Preview of the 2012 Stanley Cup Finals: New Jersey Devils vs. Los Angeles Kings

The New Jersey Devils and the Los Angeles Kings will play for the 2012 Stanley Cup. Both teams are very unlikely to be here. New Jersery was the #6 seed in the East and went 12-6 to win the East. Upsetting #3 seed Florida Panthers in 7 games, #5 seed Philadelphia Flyers in 5 games and #1 seed New York Rangers in 6 games. This is New Jersey's 5th Stanley Cup Final and they are looking to win their 4th Stanley Cup. This is the first time in the Stanley Cup Finals since 2003 for the Devils and the beat the Ducks in 7 games that year. The Devils are the first #6 seed in the Stanley Cup since the Flames in 2004. Los Angeles was the #8 seed in the West and went 12-2 to win the West. They upset the #1 seed Vancouver Canucks in 5 games, #2 seed St. Louis Blues in 4 games and the #3 Phoenix Coyotes in 5 games. This Los Angeles' 2nd Stanley Cup Finals and are looking to win their first Stanley Cup. The only other time that the Kings made the Finals was in 1993 when the lost to the Canadians. Kings are the second #8 seed to make the Stanley Cup Finals only other time was 2006 when the Oilers did it. The Kings are 8-0 in the playoffs on the road. Kings are also the 2nd team to beat the #1, #2 and #3 seed in the same year only other team was the 2004 Flames. The winner of the series will become the lowest seeded team in NHL history to win the Stanley Cup. Ilya Kovalchuck is leading the NHL in points with 18 and goals with 7 in this postseason. Dustin Brown is 3rd in the NHL in points with 16 and tied for 3rd with 7 goals in the postseason. Jonathan Quick has been amazing this playoffs he is 2nd in the NHL in both GAA and save percentage. His GAA is 1.54 and his save percentage is 94.6%. My prediction for the series is the Kings defy all odds and become the first #8 ever to hoist the Stanley Cup and they win the series in 6 games.
