Josh Hamilton Becomes The 16th Player In MLB History To Hit 4 Home Runs In 1 Game

On Tuesday night Josh Hamilton what only 15 others before have done which was hit 4 home runs in a game. Hamilton becomes the 16th MLB player to accomplish this feat. The last player to this was Carlos Delgado on September 25, 2003. In the game Hamilton went 5 for 5 with four home runs and double. In the game he had 8 RBIs hitting in Elvis Andrus all four times. Hamilton hit the first two home runs off Jake Arrieta, the third off Zach Phillips and the last off Darren O'Day. The four home runs were 11th, 12th, 13th and 14th on the season for Hamilton and 129th, 130th, 131th and 132nd in Hamilton's career. Of the 16 players who have done this only 5 are Hall of Famers who are Ed Delahanty, Lou Gehrig, Chuck Klein, Willie Mays and Mike Schmidt. This game just adds to the growing resume of Josh Hamilton. Hamilton was the AL MVP and ALCS MVP in 2010. He made the All-Star team every year since 2008 when he joined the Rangers only playing in Cincinnati in 2007 before. He also should make it for the 5th time this year. He has won 2 Silver Sluggers one in 2008 when he led the AL in RBIs with 130 RBIs and in 2010 when he won the Batting Title when hit .359 on the season. He also a favorite to win another MVP and Silver Slugger award this year. Right now he his on pace to become the first AL Batting Triple Triple Crown Champion since Carl Yastrzemski in 1967 and first MLB Batting Triple Crown Champion since Mickey Mantle in 1956. He leads the MLB with a .406 batting average, 14 home runs and 36 RBIs. If Josh Hamilton can stay healthy and keeps hitting the way he has he could hit 400-500 on his career.
