Kentucky Wildcats are the 2012 NCAA Basketball National Champions

The Kentucky Wildcats beat the Kansas Jayhawks 67 to 59 to claim the 2012 National Basketball Championship. In the game Kentucky was very dominate and led for all most the entire game. They lead from 15:42 to go in the 1st half and never looked back. For the first 4 minutes the game was close. Kentucky pushed it lead out to 23 to 14 with 10 minutes left in the 1st half. They sent the lead to 15 points making it 34 to 19 with 5 minutes left in the half. Kentucky was just so dominate in the first half leading 41 to 27 at half time. The lead then grew to 16 with 14 minutes left in the game. Kansas was able to close it to single digits getting the score to 59 to 50 with 4 minutes left in the game. With 40 seconds to go in the Kansas shrunk Kentucky's lead to 65 to 59. With good defense at the end Kentucky ended up winning the game. Kentucky won their 8th National Title in school history and first since 1998. They set a school record for wins going 38-2 only losing to Indiana and Vanderbilt. Anthony Davis won the Final Four Most Outstanding Player. He through he struggled with offense in the Championship game he still had a great game. He scored 6 points and had 16 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals and 6 blocks in the Championship game. He the Final Four though he did average 12.0 PPG, 15.0 RPG, 2.0 SPG and 5.5 BPG. He also proved the he was the best player in college basketball this year and he should be the #1 pick in this year's NBA draft. He became the 4th freshman to win Final Four MOP and first since Carmelo Anthony in 2003 with Syracuse. The other four All-Final Four players were Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and Doron Lamb from Kentucky and Thomas Robinson and Tyshawn Taylor from Kansas. Michael Kidd-Gilchrist had a good Championship Game with 11 points and 6 rebounds. In the Final Four he averaged 10.0 PPG and 5.0 RPG. Doron Lamb had a great Championship Game with 22 points and 3 rebounds. In the Final Four he averaged 16.0 PPG and 2.0 APG. Thomas Robinson for Kansas had a great Championship Game with 18 points and 17 rebounds. In the Final Four he averaged 18.5 PPG and 12.5 RPG. Tyshawn Taylor had a good Championship Game with 19 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists. In the Final Four he averaged 14.5 PPG and 3.5 RPG and 6.0 APG. Both teams next year should be really good and might be able to contend for the National Title if they restock right. For Kentucky the will lose all five starters Jones, Kidd-Gilchrist, Lamb, Davis and Teague to the NBA draft and maybe even a 6th player. Most people have all five Kentucky starters going in the 1st round. For Kansas they probably will lose Thomas Robinson who will be a top 3 or 5 NBA draft pick but should have a lot of pieces left for next year. I expect to see both teams do very well next year and Kentucky has a chance to repeat if they can fill all their holes.
